Why Renter's Insurance? An Explanation of Benefits...

Renters Insurance is exactly that - insurance for renters whether they be renting an apartment, single-family house, or condo. The insurance protects renters personal belongings, and in general will protect renters against a liability lawsuit that is brought against them.

Here is a video on some of the many benefits of renters insurance,

At Pacific Shore Property Management we highly recommend that all of our residents purchase renters insurance. Though it is not a requirement of residency, an addendum must be signed informing residents of the types of situations where renters insurance would benefit them.

Los Angeles Times Reports - Apartment Rents Drop In U.S. West, South

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that rents have dropped for the third consecutive time. This last period reflected a 1.5% decrease in rents as they report higher unemployment rates have forced certain renters to move in together. As one can imagine this has pushed vacancy rates up, creating a downward effect on rental prices.

At Pacific Shore Property Management we are consistently running rental market surveys for the areas that we service to keep up to date on current rental rates. This effects not only how we market and price our upcoming vacancies, but also when and by how much we increase current residents. In these trying times it's extremely important that Property Management Companies in Los Angeles be careful who they choose to increase, and have a firm hold on what exactly constitutes a market rent for the particular area, given the particulars of the specific unit.

If you'd like to get a better idea of what the market rental value is for your particular apartment building or home please contact us directly at,

Fair Housing - It's the law!

Dear Readers,

Fair housing laws are not be taken lightly, and must be obeyed at all times. In my humble opinion they are some of the most important and meaningful laws that exist with regards to rental housing. The basic of the laws with regards to rental housing are that you cannot discriminate against anyone based on the following categories,
  • Race
  • Color
  • Sex
  • Religion
  • National Origin
  • Ancestry
  • Mental Disability
  • Physical Disability (HIV & AIDS included)
  • Familial Status (Children)
  • Marital Status
  • Age
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Source of Income
  • Student Status
  • Arbitrary Reasons
It's important to judge everyone on their merits, such as their credit history, rental history, employment history, and so on. You can take a closer look at the actual Fair Housing Law HERE. At Pacific Shore Property Management we always abide by all Fair Housing Laws and make it a priority to treat others the way we'd want to be treated.

If you ever have questions about Fair Housing Laws and how they apply to your particular situation, please email me and I'm happy to try and help!

Best Wishes,
